REVIEW: A DAY AT WINGHAM WILDLIFE PARK
Wingham Wildlife Park was boldly displayed at a busy junction in Dartford centre, and guess what? My wife saw it and told my son about it. Around that time, we have also been considering going for a time out as a family since the half-term break is around the corner. We chose to go to a pebble beach at Whitstable, and Wingham was not too far from Whitstable. For the sake of mentioning, these places are in Kent.
You can conveniently spend the whole day at the wildlife park and not get bored. Now, if you have kids who enjoy running around, Wingham Wildlife Park will be heavenly for them. They would have exhausted most of their energy before exhausting the options the wildlife has to offer. Fun starts from the gate. There is a good parking space for cars and I believe it’s free.
Talking about the animals, the sight of the tiger and giraffe was my wife’s favourite moment, but that was not the most exciting for my son. The wildlife park has different species of pythons, alligators, crocodiles, monkeys, orangutans, birds, bears, rodents, butterflies, etc. As a Nigerian, it was exciting to see our West African Dwarfs goats. That moment, I felt like I was home, plus the fact that the day was a sunny day.
From a distance, one could hear the lion roar, and the regular jaguar and black jaguar were quite peaceful. The arctic wolves gave us a good display while we watched the flamingos on the opposite sides. The park has so many wildlife options, and they are kept in an environment that shares similarities with their natural habitat.
What is a wildlife park without the presence of dinosaurs? I often wonder why dinosaurs are popular with kids. While we may not have living dinosaurs, Wingham Wildlife Park made sure there is a heavy presence of dinosaur themes all around. Guess what? The presence of the live animals was so engaging that only a few kids stayed around the images of dinosaurs.
There is also an indoor play area for kids. This is located right in the same building as the restaurant. Parents can eat and watch the kids play. All around the park there are toilets both for the abled and disabled. When I say you can spend the whole day at the park, I mean it. To save a bit of money, it’s advisable to book online before arriving at the park. Tickets for three cost about £55 if you book online. It’s also accessible by public transport
I would have shared many pictures, but I want you to go see for yourself. I rate the place 8 out of 10.
