REFLECTING ON ANOTHER DAY AT WORK

Most folks were getting high on their monster or red bull but I was too naive to notice as I got carried away by the chocolate drink. I thought most of the time was going to be fun but I was wrong. What kind of workplace gives you an unlimited supply of hot chocolate drinks even though it’s water-logged? How can people ditch chocolate and be rushing coffee, I could not imagine the fun in a bitter drink. Days afterward schooled me about life and the multiple drinks in it.

Four hours into the shift, I was already tired, my legs and eyes were heavy but I looked around and I was the only one feeling drowsy. This must be the devil, I must not get sacked in my first week. I got home and I told my wife, she asked me to take some pain relief which I took reluctantly as a man of faith.

When your company starts advising you on the kind of shoes to buy and use at work, just know it’s about to go down. Any time they start sharing sweets or gums at work just brace yourself because you will work on that shift. As I was saying, I was smashing it as we say at work but I could not measure up. At one point, I said to myself even if Jeff Bezos were to be my line manager I won’t impress him further.

I felt so relieved and it was then I understood why people get addicted to some controlled drugs. It’s better not to start it. My composure after taking the drug made me relate to my colleagues that carry medications in their bags. Before I used to wonder what kind of ailments they had but now I know.

This increasing revelation made me ask my wife about the effect of Red Bull on the body. It was when she explained that I got the reason why every other person was romancing their Red Bull or monster. They knew something I didn’t know. “Unfortunately, dem no dey tell person, na you go find out”. Now imagine how can Biodun, who gets high on chocolate, compete with others getting high on redbull? The battle was lost from the beginning.

I hope you find this funny? However, what is not funny is if you are running the race of life without Jesus Christ in it. The good thing is that you are receiving the memo now. Believing and confessing him comes with a great deal of energy. You can’t run this race on your own, you will only run crazy.
