WHAT YOU NEED  TO KNOW  ABOUT DEI


1. “DEI”simply means  or stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

2. DEI plays an important part in promoting an inclusive workplace culture and ensuring an effective recruiting and hiring process. It’s about creating a fair and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

3.DEI often describes certain training efforts, such as diversity training. Although DEI is best known as a form of corporate training, it also finds implementation within many types of organizations, such as within Academia, Schools, and hospitals.

3. The D in DEI, which stands for Diversity, means having a mix of different people, ideas, and experiences. It’s like having a big box of crayons with many different colours!

4. The E in  DEI, which stands for Equity, means making sure everyone has an equal chance to succeed. It’s like making sure everyone has the same size puzzle piece to fit into the bigger picture.Now you’re getting right?

5.The I in DEI stands for inclusion, which means making everyone feel welcome and valued. It’s like inviting everyone to the party and making sure they have a good time!

6.DEI  Involves initiatives promoting  equal access, opportunity, employment, and sense of belonging to underrepresented people in the workplace.

7.DEI aims to achieve some goal such as overcoming unconscious biases, which are stereotypes about other people formed outside a person’s awareness, and identifying and mitigating microaggressions, which are negative behaviors toward individuals based on those biases.

8.DEI is important because:

– It helps us learn from each other’s differences
– It makes our communities stronger and more creative
– It ensures everyone has an equal chance to succeed
– It makes us feel happy and valued

9. We can promote DEI by:

– Treating everyone with kindness and respect
– Listening to and learning from each other’s differences
– Speaking up when we see unfairness or injustice
– Creating opportunities for everyone to succeed
– Celebrating our differences and what makes us unique!
– Smile and say hello to someone new
– Ask someone about their culture or traditions.
