HOW I MISSED A PUNCH IN THE FACE

HOW I MISSED A PUNCH IN THE FACE

I escaped a heavy blow from an angry man or probably a lawsuit. I wrote a letter to another man’s girlfriend. ThisĀ  was what really happened.

Sally was the first of our neighbours that interacted with my family when we moved into this building that has six flats. Her son Rory was about AB’s age and they bonded very well considering the fact they both have the same favorite cartoon series(PawPatrol). We have had several play dates.

I believe I’m a missionary where I am and I’m so committed to getting the gospel across to people though it has been hard. My pastor told me only three classes of people speak to strangers around here, first the Americans, second are the tourists and the third class are the lunatics. I’m none of the above therefore the other alternative is to find a way to make friends and thereby get the gospel into the mix.

I thought of starting with my next door neighbour whom I rarely see in fact I don’t even know if the neighbour is a man or woman. Few days ago I saw a lady by the door so I decided to chat a bit with her. In the process of talking she told me she prefers to stay indoors most of the time and her name is Liz.

I took time to pray for Liz then I thought of writing a note to her, just to break as much ice as possible and also send regards from my family. Thank God I mentioned the regards from my family. Later in the evening, I saw Liz and another man cleaning their windows. I was shocked, I didn’t know she was married. I begin to imagine if the guy won’t be wondering why this negro is writing his beloved.

The next morning, I heard a knock on the door. I looked through the window and it was Liz’s man at the door. This must be a a serious business for the man to come knocking in the morning. With mixed feelings,  I opened the door and we got talking.

He began by telling me he was wondering why a guy would write to his Liz. He said and I quote “does this guy know that I exist? This is my flat and not Lizs’, Liz is my girlfriend” However he felt comforted that the letter stated that regards were sent from my entire family. At that point I felt peace too. Afterward he explained that they are also not antisocial but they are just being careful of who to relate with. I’m sure he enjoyed the fact that we extended affection to them. It’s more than what dogs and cats can offer. We offer real love, the love of Christ.
