WHAT MAKES A THING IMPORTANT?
Many things that appear so important are only so because of the reality of our current location. A few days after I got to England, I open my bedside drawer and I saw a few naira notes that I brought with me. They were useless now in England. Their journey to useless began at the Gatwick airport when I needed just one pound to rent a trolley but couldn’t exchange it as my currency was not considered valuable enough. That event ushered me into my first angelic intervention in England. This is a story for another day.
I remembered when my wife was to come to England, she was asked to come along with some money no matter how little so as not to be stranded. The naira in her hand was only useful because she had exchanged it for pounds.
For those who believe in life after death, it means we also believe that we are merely transiting through here as our destination is eternity. Therefore all of our pursuits must be geared towards earning currencies that can be spent in eternity. There will be many rewards for good works in eternity but we also not forget the most important thing which is securing life in eternity which only comes through believing that Jesus died for our sin and also accepting him as Lord. Accepting him as Lord simply means doing everything to please him.
The ultimate goal of our faith in Jesus is the salvation of our soul. 1Peter 1:9
